Regular Season Round 4: Branik - Koper 71-78
Date: October 27, 2012
Bottom-ranked Branik (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-71 loss to third ranked Koper (3-1) in Maribor. The game without a history. Koper led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Koper forced 20 Branik turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Branik helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by power forward Alen Prole (198-83) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and forward Miha Markic (200-88, agency: Kotnik Sports Agency) supported him with 19 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Four Koper players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by center Sandi Skrbinsek (205-90) did not help to save the game for Branik. Niko Senekovic (-88) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Branik's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Koper maintains third position with 3-1 record behind leader Splosna plovba, which they share with Postojna and Lastovka. Branik at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Koper's next round opponent will be league's leader Splosna plovba in Portoroz and it will be for sure the game of the week. Branik will play on the road against Triglav Strazisce (#6) in Kranj and hopes to get finally their first victory.
