The game had a very big importance for second-ranked SC Rist Wedel as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group North. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 26-17 charge of SC Rist Wedel, which allowed them to win the game.
