Very important is a road loss of second ranked UBSC Graz (3-1) against fourth ranked Gussing Knights (3-1) on Saturday night. Visiting UBSC Graz was defeated by Gussing Knights in Gussing 86-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of UBSC Graz. It looked good early as UBSC Graz took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gussing Knights had a 30-20 second period charge getting the lead and UBSC Graz was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-86. Gussing Knights forced 19 UBSC Graz turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Slovenian forward Elvis Kadic (201-80, agency: Kotnik Sports Agency) who helped to win the game recording 30 points. International point guard Thomas Klepeisz (185-91, agency: TSS Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Croatian power forward Milan Stegnjaic (204-81) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: New Hampshire) added 11 points and 5 assists in the effort for UBSC Graz. Five Gussing Knights and four UBSC Graz players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights moved-up to second place, which they share with Wels and UBSC Graz. Gussing Knights will play against Xion Dukes (#7) in Klosterneuburg in the next round where they are favorite. UBSC Graz will play on the road against the league's leader BC Vienna (#1) in Wien and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
