There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked SC Rasta Vechta (2-3) smashed at home 10th ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (3-3) 85-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by SC Rasta Vechta. BV Chemnitz 99 was better in fourth quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SC Rasta Vechta forced 23 BV Chemnitz 99 turnovers. BV Chemnitz 99 was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St.) scored 19 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian forward Jacob Doerksen (200-87) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four SC Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. SC Rasta Vechta's coach Patrick Elzie used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard John Bynum (191-78, college: Metro St.) with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Congolese forward Blanchard Obiango (202-88) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). SC Rasta Vechta moved-up to eleventh place. Loser BV Chemnitz 99 dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. SC Rasta Vechta will face higher ranked Finke Baskets (#10) in Paderborn in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
