Regular Season Round 6: Fraport SKY - Telekom Baskets 78-53
Date: October 27, 2012
We should mention about the upset which took place in Frankfurt, where higher ranked Telekom Baskets (2-3) were outleveled in a road game by sixteenth ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (2-4) 78-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Deutsche Bank Skyliners. Telekom Baskets managed to win fourth quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Deutsche Bank Skyliners made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Dion Dowell (200-85, college: Houston) scored 17 points to lead the charge for the winners and forward Zachery Peacock (203-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in 14 points during the contest. Four Deutsche Bank Skyliners players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Kyle Weems (198-89, college: Missouri St.) with 13 points and point guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Deutsche Bank Skyliners moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Telekom Baskets dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. They share it with Walter Tigers. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will meet higher ranked Brose Baskets (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Telekom Baskets will play against the league's leader EWE Baskets (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
