Regular Season Round 5: Dorsten - Hannover 106-95

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Dorsten (2-3) won against at home higher ranked Hannover Tigers (2-3) 106-95 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 106-95. Dorsten outrebounded Hannover Tigers 40-22 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Dorsten looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American players dominated the game. Center Blake Poole (195-88, college: St.Martin's) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 22 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Christopher Jones (183-88, college: Prairie View A&M) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds, 14 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Dorsten's coach Torsten Schierenbeck allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Ashanti Cook (188-84, college: Georgetown) answered with 31 points and 8 rebounds and guard Maurice Williams (192-83, college: Los Medanos JC) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Hannover Tigers. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Dorsten moved-up to fifth place in Group North, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Hannover Tigers. Dorsten will face Oldenburg (#9) in the next round. Hannover Tigers will play against Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (#11).
