Regular Season Round 2: Levski Sofia - Balkan 90-71

Round 2 in NBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Sofia where host Levski Sofia (2-0) crushed league's leader Balkan (1-2) 90-71 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Levski Sofia. Balkan managed to win second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Levski Sofia forced 20 Balkan turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Balkan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Serbian point guard Marko Marinovic (183-83) who scored 28 points. International Pavel Ivanov (200-88) chipped in 16 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). International Ivan Lilov (196-88) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Stanimir Marinov (191-91) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Levski Sofia keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Cherno More and Lukoil Academik. Balkan at the other side dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Cherno More. Balkan will play next round against league's leader Euroins Cherno More trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Levski Sofia will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Lukoil Academik. It will be extra interesting game as Lukoil Academik is their local rival from Sofia.
