Regular Season Round 7: Siauliai - Pieno Zvaigzdes 94-93

The most exciting game of round 7 in the LKL took place in Siauliai. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Pieno Zvaigzdes (2-2) to leader Siauliai (3-0) 94-93 on Sunday evening. Siauliai dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Pieno Zvaigzdes' 40. 27 personal fouls committed by Pieno Zvaigzdes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese forward Papa Dia (208-87, college: SMU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Laurynas Samenas (192-88) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Siauliai players scored in double figures. American forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (183-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: Edge Sports) added 29 points (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!) in the effort for Pieno Zvaigzdes. Pieno Zvaigzdes' coach Nerijus Zabarauskas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Siauliai have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Pieno Zvaigzdes at the other side keeps the sixth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
