Regular Season Round 2: Kayseri - Edremit 81-65

Very predictable result when top-ranked Kayseri (2-0) defeated at home bottom-ranked Edremit (0-2) 81-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Kayseri. Edremit was better in fourth quarter 17-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kayseri dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Edremit's 16. They outrebounded Edremit 47-30 including a 18-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Greek forward Evanthia Maltsi (180-78, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Pinar Demirok (182-91) chipped in 14 points during the contest. Kayseri's coach Ayhan Avci used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Lithuanian swingman Marina Solopova (180-90) responded with 22 points and the former international forward Burcu Tasbas (178-89, agency: 1x1 Sports) scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Edremit players scored in double figures. Kayseri keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Edremit still closes the standings with two games lost. Kayseri will face Galatasaray (#3) in Istanbul in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Edremit will play on the road against Istanbul Universitesi (#5) in Istanbul.
