Regular Season Round 16: Khimik - Halychyna 79-64

An interesting game for Khimik (8-2) which hosted in Yuzhny their biggest opponent Halychyna (7-3). First ranked Khimik had an easy win 79-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Halychyna. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. Halychyna managed to win second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Halychyna 42-29 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Khimik looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Vernon Goodridge (206-84, college: La Salle) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Montenegrin-Bosnian swingman Suad Sehovic (196-87) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Goodridge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Khimik's coach Zoran Martic used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Vladan Vukosavljevic (206-84, agency: Beo Basket) replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian-Bosnian point guard Sasa Vasiljevic (180-79, agency: Beo Basket) added 7 points and 8 assists in the effort for Halychyna. Khimik maintains first position with 8-2 record. Halychyna at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Budivelnyk. Khimik are looking forward to face Hoverla (#7) in Frankivsk in the next round where they are favorite. Halychyna will play on the road against BC Odessa and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
