Regular Season Round 3: Mersin Univ. - Izmir BSB 75-55

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Izmir BSB (1-2) against ninth ranked Mersin Univ. (1-2) on Friday night. Visiting Izmir BSB was crushed by Mersin Univ. in Mersin 75-55. It looked good early as Izmir BSB took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mersin Univ. had a 25-17 second period charge getting the lead and Izmir BSB was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 55-75. Mersin Univ. forced 19 Izmir BSB turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Ilkay Masa (186-84) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Seyma Kutun (-93) accounted for 20 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Revaziye Atila (-88) came up with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and forward Begum Taskin (185-92) added 15 points respectively for Izmir BSB in the defeat. Mersin Univ. left bottom position moving up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Izmir BSB and Anadolu Univ. Mersin Univ.'s next round opponent will be Anadolu Univ. (#6) in Eskisehir. Izmir BSB will play at home against the league's leader Bursa BSB.
