Regular Season Round 5: Sirenos - Fortuna 88-66

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Sirenos (4-1) crushed 5th ranked Fortuna (2-3) in Kaunas 88-66 on Friday. Sirenos forced 26 Fortuna turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. The former international power forward Iveta Salkauske (195-82, college: Illinois, agency: Josep and Nicolas) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and guard Egle Sarapaite (172-88) accounted for 21 points and 5 rebounds. Coach Linas Salkus's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. International point guard Gabriele Gutkauskaite (172-90) came up with 19 points and the former international swingman Lina Aglinskaite (182-87) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Fortuna in the defeat. Four Fortuna players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sirenos. They maintain second place with 4-1 record behind leader Kibirkstis-Tiche. Fortuna at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Aistes-LSU and Ruta Siauliai. Sirenos will meet bottom-ranked Utena (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Fortuna will play against Jaunieji Talentai (#7) in Vilnius and hope to secure a win.
