Regular Season Round 7: Finke Baskets - Vechta 94-99 OT

SC Rasta Vechta (3-3) survived in overtime against Finke Baskets (3-4) by five points 99-94 on Friday night. The game took place in Paderborn. But the guests from Vechta were better at the end. The guests trailed by 13 points after three quarters before their 28-15 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 5-point victory in overtime. SC Rasta Vechta outrebounded Finke Baskets 53-36 including a 26-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. His fellow American import forward A.J. Rudowitz (198-88, college: Stonehill) helped adding 11 points and 13 rebounds. SC Rasta Vechta's coach Patrick Elzie used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Ryan Aquino (203-89, college: Georgia Coll.) responded with 27 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and forward Michael Jost (204-88) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Four SC Rasta Vechta and five Finke Baskets players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for SC Rasta Vechta. They moved-up to eighth place. Finke Baskets at the other side keep the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. SC Rasta Vechta will meet at home higher ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Finke Baskets will play against Crailsheim Merlins and hope to secure a win.
