Regular Season Round 6: Herner - BG 89 Avides 94-83

There was a change at the DBBL leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Rotenburg/Scheessel (4-2). They were defeated by twelfth ranked Herner TC (1-5) 94-83 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Rotenburg/Scheessel. Herner TC dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Rotenburg/Scheessel's 46. American forward Teya Wright (185-89, college: Providence) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Tongan-American swingman Ofa Tulikihihifo (180-84, college: CS Northridge) chipped in 28 points during the contest. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Vanessa House (170-88, college: W.Virginia) with 23 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and her fellow American import power forward Samantha Meissel (188-88, college: Indianapolis) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Herner TC left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Oberhausen. Rotenburg/Scheessel at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Wasserburg. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play next round against strong Osnabruck trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Herner TC will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Heli Girls in Noerdlingen.
