Regular Season Round 3: Balkan - Cherno More 82-73

Round 3 in NBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Botevgrad where host Balkan (2-2) beat league's leader Euroins Cherno More (2-1) 82-73 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Euroins Cherno More. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-73. The best player for the winners was international Ivan Lilov (196-88) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian forward Uros Petrovic (205-90, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Asen Velikov (185-86) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Larry Hall (190-83, college: W.Oregon) added 17 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Balkan moved-up to sixth place. Euroins Cherno More at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Lukoil Academik. Euroins Cherno More will play next round against league's leader Lukoil Academik trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Balkan will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Tundja Yambol on the road.
