Regular Season Round 3: Istanbul Univ. - Edremit 82-70

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Edremit (0-3) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (2-1) 82-70 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-70. Istanbul Universitesi outrebounded Edremit 43-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Edremit's players. It was a great evening for the former international guard Tugba Palazoglu (171-80) who led her team to a victory scoring 14 points and 5 assists. International point guard Nilay Kartaltepe Yigit (172-79) helped adding 13 points and 4 assists. Istanbul Universitesi's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian swingman Marina Solopova (180-90) with 22 points and 7 rebounds and American Amisha Carter (186-82, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Istanbul Universitesi moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Edremit still closes the standings with three games lost. Istanbul Universitesi will face league's leader Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Edremit will play at home against Galatasaray (#3) in Istanbul and hopes to get finally their first victory.
