There was a minor upset when higher ranked Hannover Tigers (2-4) were defeated at home by eleventh ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (2-4) 87-78 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-22. But Hannover Tigers won second period 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hannover Tigers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Frank Theis (200-82) scored 21 points to lead the charge for the winners and forward Stephen Schubert (205-92) chipped in 22 points during the contest. Four Herzoege Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel's coach Benjamin Travnizek used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was swingman Jan-Peter Prasuhn (198-82) with 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard Tobias Welzel (183-90) scored 19 points. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel moved-up to seventh place in Group North, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Hannover Tigers. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will face Oldenburg (#11) in the next round.
