Regular Season Round 7: Bremerhaven - Neckar L'burg 86-80

There was a minor upset when higher ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (3-4) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (3-4) 86-80 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-14. But EnBW Ludwigsburg won second period 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded EnBW Ludwigsburg 45-27 including 21 on the offensive glass. EnBW Ludwigsburg was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American point guard Stanley Burrell (190-84) who helped to win the game recording 30 points (made all of his eight free throws). The former international Philip Zwiener (201-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven's coach Douglas Spradley used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. International Lucca Staiger (196-88, college: Iowa St.) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward John Turek (206-83, college: Nebraska) added 16 points in the effort for EnBW Ludwigsburg. Five EnBW Ludwigsburg players scored in double figures. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated EnBW Ludwigsburg. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will face Phoenix Hagen (#11) at home in the next round.
