The game had a very big importance for second-ranked TSV 1880 Wasserburg as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Rotenburg/Scheessel) loss. TSV 1880 Wasserburg edged 9th ranked Oberhausen at home 83-81. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-17. But Oberhausen won second period 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TSV 1880 Wasserburg made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. The former international swingman Anne Breitreiner (183-84, agency: LBM Management) notched 36 points (!!!) to lead the effort and American forward Emma Cannon (188-89, college: Cent.Florida) supported her with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Even 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by Fijian guard Valerie Nainima (165-86, college: S.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Oberhausen. International swingman Sarah Austmann (179-85) added 10 points and 8 assists. Four Oberhausen players scored in double figures. TSV 1880 Wasserburg have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Heli Girls. Oberhausen lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. They share the position with Herner. Oberhausen will play next round against Rhein Main Baskets trying to get back on the winning streak. TSV 1880 Wasserburg will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked SV Halle Lions on the road.
