No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Brose Baskets (5-1) beat 14th ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (2-5) in Bamberg 76-67 on Monday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Brose Baskets made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game, while Deutsche Bank Skyliners only scored four points from the stripe. Deutsche Bank Skyliners were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Slovakian point guard Anton Gavel (188-84, agency: Pro One Sports) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists. Slovenian forward Bostjan Nachbar (207-80) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. American guard Quantez Robertson (189-84, college: Auburn) answered with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Ted Scott (188-85, college: W.Virginia St.) added 14 points in the effort for Deutsche Bank Skyliners. Deutsche Bank Skyliners' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Brose Baskets. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Loser Deutsche Bank Skyliners dropped to the fifteenth position with five games lost. Brose Baskets will face EnBW Ludwigsburg (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will play against New Yorker Phantoms in Braunschweig and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
