Very important is a road loss of second ranked Raiffeisen Wels (4-2) against fourth ranked Gussing Knights (4-2) on Monday night. Visiting Raiffeisen Wels were defeated by Gussing Knights in Gussing 90-80. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Raiffeisen Wels. The game was mostly controlled by Gussing Knights. Raiffeisen Wels was better in third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Marcus Heard (201-84, college: De Paul) notched 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and international point guard Thomas Klepeisz (185-91, agency: TSS Management) supported him with 18 points and 5 assists. Heard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by the former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Raiffeisen Wels. American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Gussing Knights and four Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights moved-up to second place, which they share with Klosterneub. and Wels. Gussing Knights will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Raiffeisen Wels will play at home against UBSC Graz and hope to get back on the winning track.
