Regular Season Round 8: Leipzig - Chemnitz 90-74

Date: November 6, 2012
Bottom-ranked USC Leipzig managed to get a second victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Tuesday night. This time newly promoted USC Leipzig won against seventh-ranked BV Chemnitz 99 90-74. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 16-point difference suggests that USC Leipzig is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Nick Freer (198-85, college: Grand Valley St.) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 4 steals and the other American import guard Harry Marshall (183-88, college: Indiana St., agency: Limelight Hoops) who added 15 points during the contest. Forward Robert Cardenas (200-82) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. USC Leipzig (2-6) moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Gotha. Loser BV Chemnitz 99 keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. USC Leipzig will meet higher ranked Finke Baskets (#14) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BV Chemnitz 99 will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#8) in Allmendingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
