Regular Season Round 8: Naglis Palangos - Lietkabelis 68-82

Bottom-ranked Naglis Palangos (0-6) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to seventh ranked Lietkabelis (2-2) 82-68 on Tuesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Lietkabelis. Naglis Palangos managed to win second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Naglis Palangos to just 6 points in first quarter. Lietkabelis dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Naglis Palangos' 36. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian center Kaspars Cipruss (210-82) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Arnas Butkevicius (196-92) who added 17 points during the contest. Four Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. Lietkabelis' coach Gintaras Leonavicius used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Parrish Brown (185-84, college: Maryland, agency: Hightower Law Firm) responded with 20 points and 6 assists and Nigerian power forward Olasumbo Atoyebi (203-88, college: Elon) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Lietkabelis moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Pieno Zvaigzdes. Naglis Palangos at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Lietkabelis is looking forward to face league's leader Rudupis in Prienai in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Naglis Palangos will play at home against Nevezis (#8) in Kedainiai and hopes to get finally their first victory.
