Date: November 10, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Cluj Napoca (2-6) was outscored by fifth ranked Sf.Gheorghe (7-2) in Sfantu Gheorghe 95-42. The game without a history. Sf.Gheorghe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cluj Napoca to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Sf.Gheorghe shot 61.8 percent from the field. They also forced 33 Cluj Napoca turnovers and outrebounded them 39-24 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Sf.Gheorghe especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Cluj Napoca's players. American swingman Jasmin Bailey (172-90, college: Ill.-Chicago) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Mekia Valentine (193-88, college: UCSB, agency: Merit Sports) chipped in 15 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Five Sf.Gheorghe players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Adriana Pricop (181-74) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and forward Flavia Ferenczi (175-91) scored 9 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sf.Gheorghe have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Timisoara. Cluj Napoca lost third consecutive game.
