Regular Season Round 7: CSM Bucuresti - Farul Const. 99-78

Bottom-ranked Farul Const. (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-78 loss to seventh ranked CSM Bucuresti (5-2) in Bucuresti on Saturday evening. The game without a history. CSM Bucuresti led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. CSM Bucuresti forced 19 Farul Const. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Canadian forward Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (184-87, agency: BeoExcell) helped adding 20 points. Four CSM Bucuresti players scored in double figures. At the losing side Serbian power forward Dragan Petronic (206-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and center Marian Minea (203-85) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for CSM Bucuresti. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Farul Const. lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. CSM Bucuresti will meet league's second-placed Targu Mures on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Farul Const. will play against Rovinari (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
