Regular Season Round 7: Bamberg - Marburg 73-79

Bottom-ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-73 loss to seventh ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (4-3) in Bamberg on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Don Bosco Bamberg won fourth quarter 29-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Pharmaserv Marburg made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for the former international forward Margret Skuballa (186-87) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Amanda Davidson (170-83, college: Indianapolis) helped adding 19 points. At the losing side American center Brett Benzio (190-90, college: Tulane) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Janae Young (183-87, college: Pacific) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Don Bosco Bamberg's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. BC Pharmaserv Marburg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Don Bosco Bamberg still closes the standings with seven games lost. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will meet at home Oberhausen (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Don Bosco Bamberg will play against Herner TC and hopes to get finally their first victory.
