There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Pertevniyal (3-3) outscored at home higher ranked Istanbul B.B. (3-3) 90-71 on Saturday. The game without a history. Pertevniyal led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Istanbul B.B. to just 7 points in first quarter. Pertevniyal made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Istanbul B.B. 41-24 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was naturalized FYR Macedonian Cedi Osman (195-95) who scored 29 points and 8 rebounds. Burak Can Yildizli (202-94) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Recep Dogrusoz (-86) who recorded 11 points and 5 assists and the former international guard Cuneyt Erden (185-77, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively. Four Pertevniyal and five Istanbul B.B. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Pertevniyal moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Istanbul B.B. Pertevniyal will face higher ranked Vestel (#7) in Manisa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
