Regular Season Round 9: Pieno Zvaigzdes - Juventus 73-72

The most exciting game of round 9 in the LKL took place in Pasvalys. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Juventus (3-2) to seventh ranked Pieno Zvaigzdes (3-2) 73-72 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Juventus. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 20-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Juventus outrebounded Pieno Zvaigzdes 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (183-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: Edge Sports) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Tyrell Biggs (203-86, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 16 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Pieno Zvaigzdes' coach Nerijus Zabarauskas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Darrick Leonard (190-84, college: Aurora) who recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Aidas Viskontas (183-86) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Pieno Zvaigzdes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Juventus. Pieno Zvaigzdes is looking forward to face Zalgiris (#6) in Kaunas in the next round. Juventus will play at home against Sakalai in Vilnius and is hoping to win this game.
