Regular Season Round 8: Herner - Bamberg 64-80
Date: November 17, 2012
Don Bosco Bamberg's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after seven consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Herne, where they defeated Herner TC (1-7) 80-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Don Bosco Bamberg. Herner TC managed to win second period 21-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Herner TC to just 3 points in first quarter. The winners were led by American guard Janae Young (183-87, college: Pacific) who scored that evening 27 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and the other American import guard Jessica Miller (173-88, college: Ill.-Chicago) supported her with 23 points. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Serbian power forward Minja Terzic (188-79) did not help to save the game for Herner TC. Tongan-American swingman Ofa Tulikihihifo (180-84, college: CS Northridge) added 11 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Don Bosco Bamberg left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Oberhausen and Herner. Don Bosco Bamberg will meet at home higher ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Herner TC will play against Oberhausen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
