There was no surprise in Quakenbrueck where 12th ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (3-6) was crushed by fifth ranked Artland Dragons (6-3) 85-62 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-62. The best player for the winners was American guard Marquez Haynes (191-86, college: Texas Arlington) who scored 19 points and 5 assists. Naturalized American forward Sergio Kerusch (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) chipped in 14 points. Five Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward John Turek (206-83, college: Nebraska) who recorded 15 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import center David Weaver (209-87, college: Wake Forest) added 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Artland Dragons moved-up to third place, which they share with Bayreuth and EWE Baskets. EnBW Ludwigsburg lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Fraport SKY. Artland Dragons is looking forward to face BBC Bayreuth (#5) on the road in the next round. EnBW Ludwigsburg will play against Mitteldeutscher BC (#17) in Weissenfels and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
