A very interesting game took place in Crailsheim. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 13th ranked Crailsheim Merlins (3-7) to fourteenth ranked Kirchheim Knights (4-6) 83-82 on Saturday evening. The guests were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 18-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. Kirchheim Knights forced 19 Crailsheim Merlins turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. American point guard Chris Alexander (186-83, college: Southern) fired 21 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Dominik Schneider (203-85) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kirchheim Knights' coach Branislav Ignjatovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Derek Coleman (180-84, college: Robert Morris) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 assists and naturalized American forward Joseph Buck (201-81, college: USC) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with ETB Wohnbau and Ehingen. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Kirchheim Knights' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked USC Leipzig (#16) at home where they are favorite. Crailsheim Merlins will play against Science City Jena.
