Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#4) and Istanbul Universitesi (#6). Istanbul Universitesi was defeated at home 63-69 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Belgian center Ann Wauters (194-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) stepped up and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Lindsay Whalen (175-82, college: Minnesota) chipped in 21 points. The former international guard Tugba Palazoglu (171-80) responded with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Russian center Irina Osipova (196-81) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. Istanbul Universitesi's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Galatasaray (4-1) moved-up to third place. Istanbul Universitesi at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Galatasaray will play against bottom-ranked Besiktas (#14) in Istanbul in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Istanbul Universitesi will play on the road against TED Ankara (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
