Regular Season Round 7: Vestel - Pertevniyal 83-56
Date: November 17, 2012
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Vestel (5-2) crushed 9th ranked Pertevniyal (3-4) in Manisa 83-56 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-56. It was a very good performance for American forward Justin Knox (205-89, college: N.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Antabia Waller (188-88, college: Auburn) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Knox is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Dewayne Reed (185-87, college: Auburn, agency: EM-PA) answered with 14 points and Burak Can Yildizli (202-94) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Pertevniyal. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vestel moved-up to third place, which they share with Usak and Maliye Milli. Loser Pertevniyal dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Vestel will face Yesilgiresun (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pertevniyal will play against Final Genclik in Bursa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
