Regular Season Round 9: Aabyhoj - Falcon 78-64

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Falcon (6-3) against seventh ranked Aabyhoj (2-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Falcon was defeated by Aabyhoj in Aabyhoj 78-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Falcon. The game was mostly controlled by Aabyhoj. Falcon was better in second period 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Falcon 48-33 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aabyhoj players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Falcon's players. It was a good game for guard Sofie Preetzmann (180-95) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. American center Kelly Meredith (182, college: Assumption) contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American center Trenice Fuller (193-87, college: Hofstra) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Josefine Vincents (164-92) added 9 points in the effort for Falcon. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aabyhoj maintains seventh place with 2-7 record. Falcon at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Aabyhoj will play against higher ranked Amager (#6) in Kastrup in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Falcon will play on the road against Horsholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
