Regular Season Round 12: Zanavykas - Mazeikiai 56-80

The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Mazeikiai (9-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Zanavykas (7-5). Mazeikiai smashed Zanavykas 80-56 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zanavykas. The game was mostly controlled by Mazeikiai. Zanavykas managed to win third quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was swingman Vytautas Pikalavicius (196-90) who scored 20 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) chipped in 19 points. Four Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Edgaras Stanionis (193-88) who recorded 19 points and center Vilius Sumskis (213-84, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Mazeikiai keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Suduva-Mantinga and Statyba. Newly promoted Zanavykas dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Mazeikiai will meet at home bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (#18) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Zanavykas will play against Radviliskis (#16) and hope to secure a win.
