Regular Season Round 5: Galitos-Tley - Vitoria SC 84-87

The most exciting game of round 5 in the LPB took place in Barreiro. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Galitos-Tley (1-4) to leader Vitoria SC (4-0) 87-84 on Sunday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Galitos-Tley won third quarter 27-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vitoria SC made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized Cape Verdean guard Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Paulo Cunha (200-80) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Perry Stevenson (206-87, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international guard Antonio Tavares (183-75) added 22 points and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for the hosts. Four Vitoria SC and five Galitos-Tley players scored in double figures. Vitoria SC have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Benfica. Galitos-Tley lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth place with four games lost. Vitoria SC is looking forward to face Ovarense (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Galitos-Tley will play against Fisica (#8) in Torres Vedras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
