Dnipro (4-9) survived in overtime against Cherkasy (5-8) by seven points 97-90 on Sunday night. The game took place in Cherkasy. But the guests from Dnepropetrovsk were better at the end. The guests trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 36-25 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 7-point victory in overtime. 26 personal fouls committed by Cherkasy helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Derrick Low (188-86, college: Washington St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. International power forward Maxym Korniyenko (204-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Dnipro players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who recorded 20 points and the other American import forward Vincent Hunter (208-84, college: Arkansas) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Dnipro moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with DniproAzot. Cherkasy at the other side keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Mykolaiv. Dnipro is looking forward to face higher ranked BC Donetsk (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cherkasy will play against Kryvbasbasket in Krivoy Rog and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
