Regular Season Round 13: Meresta - Birstono 78-70

No shocking result in a game in Pakruojis where fifth ranked Meresta (10-4) defeated 16th ranked Birstono (3-11) 78-70 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-70. Meresta made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Meresta outrebounded Birstono 49-28 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Tomas Gaidamavicius (191-82) stepped up and scored 6 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and center Agnius Gurklys (205-88) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side Paulius Kleiza (195-88) responded with 18 points and point guard Audrius Ramonaitis (180-92) scored 18 points. Birstono's coach Marius Kiltinavicius tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Meresta have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Birstono lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventeenth position with 11 games lost. Meresta will meet Perlas-MRU (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Birstono will play against Nafta Universitetas (#14) in Klaipeda and hope to secure a win.
