Regular Season Round 9: Istanbul B.B. - Usak 64-74

Very expected game when 12th ranked Istanbul B.B. (3-6) was defeated at home by third ranked Usak (7-2) 74-64 on Saturday. Istanbul B.B. was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 26-15 charge of Usak, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Istanbul B.B. outrebounded Usak 44-31 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Istanbul B.B. was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Eric Buckner (208-90, college: Georgia St., agency: David Lee services) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Justin Carter (193-87, college: Creighton, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Arthur Johnson (206-81, college: Missouri) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Sezgin Eris (185-85) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively. Istanbul B.B.'s coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Usak maintains third place with 7-2 record behind leader Darussafaka, which they share with Maliye Milli. Istanbul B.B. lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with six games lost. Usak will face Vestel (#9) in Manisa in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Istanbul B.B.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Istanbulspor.
