Important game to mention about took place in Montijo. Tenth ranked Montijobanda (2-5) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 9th ranked Academico FC (2-7) 61-60 on Saturday evening. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was American power forward Monae Baker (185, college: Shippensburg) who scored 25 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). The other American import guard Cherise Daniel (180, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Montijobanda's coach Ricardo Barata used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Joana Ferreira produced 29 points and Isabel Leite (-84) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Montijobanda moved-up to eighth place. Loser Academico FC dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Montijobanda will face higher ranked Lombos Quinta (#3) in Carcavelos in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Academico FC will play at home against the league's second-placed Olivais (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
