No shocking result in a game when second ranked Berlin (8-1) crushed at home 11th ranked Hagen Phoenix (2-7) 76-48 on Saturday. The game without a history. Berlin led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hagen Phoenix to just 7 points in second quarter. Berlin forced 19 Hagen Phoenix turnovers and outrebounded them 51-29 including a 25-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Daniela Vogel (179-92) who led her team to a victory with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Janina Thurau (177-88) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Swingman Kathrin Schlatt (174-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and center Alina Gimbel (186-96) added 4 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Hagen Phoenix. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Berlin. They maintain second place in North with 8-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Saarlouis. Hagen Phoenix lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Berlin will face league's leader ChemCats Chemnitz on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hagen Phoenix will play against SG BBZ Opladen (#4) in Leverkusen.
