Regular Season Round 6: U20 - Levski Sofia 51-99
Date: November 24, 2012
Bottom-ranked U20 (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-51 loss to fifth ranked Levski Sofia (4-2) in Sofia on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Levski Sofia dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to U20's 16. Levski Sofia forced 23 U20 turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 68.2 percentage. Levski Sofia looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Guard Ventsislav Petkov (188-91) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Zlatin Georgiev (195-85) chipped in 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Levski Sofia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was naturalized Danish forward Tencho Tenchev (202-93, agency: Interperformances) with 14 points and forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) scored 10 points and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Levski Sofia moved-up to second place, which they share with Tundja Yambol and Rilski Sportist. Newly promoted U20 still closes the standings with six games lost. Levski Sofia will meet at home Euroins Cherno More (#5) in the next round. U20 will play against Balkan (#7) in Botevgrad and hopes to get finally their first victory.
