MLP Academics Heidelberg (#4) was upset in Chemnitz by seventh ranked BV Chemnitz 99 77-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of MLP Academics Heidelberg. MLP Academics Heidelberg was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 41-28 second half run of BV Chemnitz 99. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to MLP Academics Heidelberg's 16. They outrebounded MLP Academics Heidelberg 43-22 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. MLP Academics Heidelberg was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. BV Chemnitz 99 (6-5) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Cuxhaven and Jena. MLP Academics Heidelberg at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Vechta. BV Chemnitz 99 will play against higher ranked BG Goettingen (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against Finke Baskets in Paderborn and hopes to get back on the winning track.
