Regular Season Round 9: BC Vienna - Wels 90-86

An interesting game for BC Vienna (8-1) which hosted in Wien 3rd placed Raiffeisen Wels (5-4). First ranked BC Vienna managed to get a 4-point victory 90-86. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-16. But Raiffeisen Wels won third quarter 23-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Vienna dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Raiffeisen Wels' 40. American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: N.C.Central) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Ian Boylan (197-83, college: CS Northridge) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Tyler Tiedeman (201-85, college: Boise St., agency: Interperformances) with 28 points and 5 rebounds and Bosnian guard Mirza Ahmetbasic (193-87, college: Abil.Christian, agency: World Sport Agency) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BC Vienna maintains first place with 8-1 record. Raiffeisen Wels at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. BC Vienna will play against bottom-ranked Arkadia Lions (#11) in Traiskirchen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Raiffeisen Wels will have a break next round.
