Regular Season Round 9: MTV Wolfenbuettel - Stahnsdorf 86-77

Rather expected game when 11th ranked RSV Eintracht (2-7) lost on the road to ninth ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (4-5) 86-77 on Saturday. RSV Eintracht trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 32-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 77-86 at the end of the game. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel forced 23 RSV Eintracht turnovers. It was a good game for American guard Demetrius Ward (190-90, college: W.Michigan) who led his team to a victory with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Stephen Schubert (205-92) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Ward is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Herzoege Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. American guard Blair Wheadon (191-90, college: W.Oregon) answered with 38 points (!!!) and center Michael Haucke (210-85) added 9 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for RSV Eintracht. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel moved-up to fifth place in Group North, which they share with 4 other teams. RSV Eintracht at the other side keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will face Dorsten (#5) on the road in the next round. RSV Eintracht will play against BSV Wulfen (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
