Regular Season Round 9: Herten Lions - Dorsten 98-87

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Herten Lions (6-3) beat at home 5th ranked Dorsten (4-5) 98-87 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Herten Lions. Dorsten was better in third quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Herten Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Dorsten's 56. They outrebounded Dorsten 34-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for power forward Christoph Hackenesch (204-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). American point guard Brandon Larrieu (183, college: Seattle Pacific) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Herten Lions players scored in double figures. American guard Christopher Jones (183-88, college: Prairie View A&M) answered with 18 points and 9 assists and the other American import center Blake Poole (195-88, college: St.Martin's) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Dorsten. Herten Lions maintains third place in Group North with 6-3 record having just three points less than leader Dragons. Dorsten at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Herten Lions will face league's second-placed SC Rist Wedel at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dorsten will play against Herzoege Wolfenbuettel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
