Regular Season Round 11: Gotha - Karlsruhe 77-78

Fifteenth-ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (3-8) gave a tough game to second ranked BG Karlsruhe (8-3) on Saturday. The visitors from Karlsruhe managed to secure only one-point victory 78-77. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-77. BG Karlsruhe shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. It was a great evening for American forward Jeremy Black (203-85, college: Tampa, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Rouven Roessler (200-80) helped adding 20 points. American guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) responded with 22 points and guard Jan Lipke (193-83, agency: Court Side) scored 15 points. Oettinger Rockets Gotha's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. BG Karlsruhe maintains second place with 8-3 record behind leader Duesseldorf, which they share with Goettingen. Newly promoted Oettinger Rockets Gotha dropped to the fourteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Leipzig and Crailsheim. BG Karlsruhe is looking forward to face NBC (#11) in Nurnberg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will play on the road against SC Rasta Vechta and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
