Very expected game in Balikesir where 12th ranked Edremit (1-5) was defeated by sixth ranked Botas (4-2) 74-61 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-61. Botas dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Edremit's 38. They outrebounded Edremit 47-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import forward Christi Thomas (191-82, college: Georgia) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Botas' coach Olcay Orak used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American Amisha Carter (186-82, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds and Lithuanian swingman Marina Solopova (180-90) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Botas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ceyhan Bld. Newly promoted Edremit keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. They share it with TED Ankara. Botas will meet at home higher ranked Galatasaray (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Edremit will play against Canik Bld (#7) in Samsun.
