The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Satu Mare as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Satu Mare smashed 5th ranked Timisoara at home 93-63. The game without a history. Satu Mare led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Satu Mare outrebounded Timisoara 46-22 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American power forward Shanika Freeman (186-83, college: Jacksonville St.) who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Serbian center Dara Kovacevic (197-83) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Satu Mare players scored in double figures. Satu Mare's coach Dan Fleseriu felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Tiffany Brown (165-86, college: Georgia South) who recorded 18 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Adina Stoiedin (186-91) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Satu Mare have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with ICIM Arad. Timisoara lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Alexandria and Alba Iulia. Timisoara will play next round against strong ICIM Arad trying to get back on the winning streak. Satu Mare will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
