Everything went according to plan when second ranked Mazeikiai (11-4) beat at home 10th ranked Perlas-MRU (7-8) 72-59 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Mazeikiai. Perlas-MRU managed to win second period 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mazeikiai forced 19 Perlas-MRU turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Osvaldas Macernis (196-82) who scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks. Swingman Vytautas Pikalavicius (196-90) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Five Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Antanas Udras (202-92) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and forward Zydrunas Stankus (197-78, college: Campbell) added 14 points respectively. Mazeikiai used an opportunity after Dzukija lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Perlas-MRU dropped to the eleventh place with eight games lost. Mazeikiai will meet Silute (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Perlas-MRU will play against Triobet (#10) in Jonava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
